Osazuwa Agbonayinma, the American-based Nigerian singer better known as Zuwa, has reportedly been shot dead in the United States.
The circumstances surrounding his death are still unclear.
However, Ehiozuwa Agbonayinma, Zuwa’s father who happens to be a former Nigerian lawmaker, told Channels TV that his son was shot in the back of the head on Sunday.
Zuwa, who held a master’s degree in Architecture, was known for forming Roze, a music group, with Eghosa, his brother.
The duo also released several songs, including ‘Ileke’, their 2020 single.
Gun violence is a leading cause of premature death in the United States.
According to data from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), guns are the leading cause of death among American children and teens. One out of 10 gun deaths are age 19 or younger.
48,830 people died from gun-related injuries in the US in 2021, the CDC reports.
