The publishers of the Gistlover blog have kicked against a report claiming the operatives of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) arrested its handlers.
On Friday, a blog claimed that Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the police spokesperson, issued a statement wherein he said “members of the syndicate running Gistlover blog have been arrested”.
The statement revealed the names of the suspects as Adebukola Kolapo Nnedum, Micheal Somtomchukwu and Isaac Akpokighe.
It added that the suspects — between the ages of 25 to 30 — are running a microblogging platform known for “cyberstalking, incitement, blackmail, and sundry, which has over the years been a course for public outcry”.
The blog also shared pictures of the three young men being paraded by the police.
Reacting to the report via Instagram, Gistlover accused the police of using the young men in the pictures to “chase clout”.
The controversial blog also denied claims that it members were arrested.
When TheCable Lifestyle reached out to the police spokesperson for comment on the matter, Adejobi confirmed the arrest.
He added that the young men were paraded by the police on Friday.
“Yes, they were paraded today. However, I’ll say you should stay tuned to our social media pages. There will be a statement to that effect,” he added.
The development has sparked controversy on social media, with a number of users arguing that the young men are not handlers of Gistlover.

Before you get over excited about this news, remember that Nnamdi Emeh was accused by the same Police of being the one behind “Gistlover”
Nnamdi has now spent 1 year behind bars over nothing while “Gistlover” is still operating.
The Judge even granted him bail around August but… https://t.co/ny4cmz3kVm pic.twitter.com/6yWj9bqWFh
