Zicsaloma, the Nigerian skit maker, says he was attacked by his family for choosing to become an entertainer.
The skit maker, in an interview with Chude Jideonwo, the media personality, said at the beginning of his career, his siblings challenged his passion for music and content creation.
He said they destroyed his collection of musical CDs and would always interrupt his creative process.
He recounted when he was supposed to bring family and friends to The Voice, a music competition, in South Africa but could only take his mother because his siblings never supported him.
He said despite the lack of encouragement from his family, he succeeded and has now become the “chief cornerstone” in his household.
“It was a situation where I was always singing, shouting and they would tell me to keep quiet, that I was making noise,” he said.
“I can remember even having some musical CDs like Celine Dion then. Before I return home, I will see all my CDs shattered by my brothers.
“When I even started content creation, it was another battle. I will be creating content and my brother will just come and turn on music.
“If they were even prospects of who would succeed at that point, obviously not me. But see it now, I am the chief cornerstone in the house.
“I remember when I was supposed to go for The Voice in South Africa. I was supposed to carry two family and friends, so I took my mum. Naturally, I am supposed to carry my siblings but I cannot because none of them have ever supported me.”
Zicsaloma has continued to enjoy fame in the entertainment industry since he started with ‘Sister Agnes’, a comic character he showcased on YouTube in 2018.
In November 2022, he announced the purchase of his second house on the occasion of his birthday.
