Wyclef Jean, the Haitian rapper and actor, is set to establish a tech hub in Nigeria.
According to a press release on Newsfile, the rapper and Caribbean International Commerce have signed a partnership with Plateau state to establish the tech hub in the region.
The project, which is believed to be the first of many such tech and infrastructure hub deals, will be built on 4,000+ hectares of land and encompasses diverse initiatives aimed at fostering innovation across various industries.
Five key highlights of the project:
- State-of-the-Art Music and Movie Studios: The hub will serve as a creative incubator, providing emerging talent with access to world-class studios, thus catalyzing the evolution of the music and film industry.
- Coming Soon: NiDax – Commodities Exchange for Equitable Wealth Distribution- The project plans to introduce NiDax, a groundbreaking financial paradigm, offering equitable access to commodity markets, fostering economic empowerment for all participants.
- Green Technology and Energy Glass Solar: Harnessing the power of renewable energy sources, the project is a shining example of how modern technology can coexist harmoniously with our planet.
- Manufacturing Facilities: Phase two of the project includes cutting-edge manufacturing facilities, supporting job creation and local industry development
- Sustainable Housing Developments: The initiative extends its commitment to cost-effective sustainability with the creation of eco-friendly housing developments, promoting a greener, healthier community.
“This partnership represents a fusion of creativity, sustainability, and economic empowerment. We are bringing the music of innovation to the world, and the world to the music of Nigeria,” Wyclef said.
“Together, we are creating harmony in both art and commerce, setting a new standard for a brighter, greener future.”
On his part, Caleb Muftwang, the Plateau governor, said: “These sorts of synergies will naturally provide a platform for scaling up and exposing the young talents on the Plateau towards sharing their gifts with the world”.

“In 2009, I was nominated for the MAMA award in Kenya. I remember it was Sound Sultan who called me to my room. I walked down to my room and there was the legend sitting there. And Wyclef was there. He told us how we had to collaborate, how we had to team together,” he said.
“We created an alliance called the African Music Alliance that day. Look at where African music is today. It gives me great honour to welcome him to my home city of Jos, the prophet, the preacher son like myself.
“Someone who has mentored African music. Welcome him to Jos. Welcome him as he announces this amazing innovation centre. And his participation in the Incredible Music Festival happening this year’s new year.”
The seeds have been planted I pass the torch to my brother @MI_Abaga
