CALABAR CHIC: HOW MY MUM STOPPED ME FROM COMMITTING SUICIDE
The comedienne, last week, recalled how her mother once saved her from committing suicide.
Calabar Chic said one of her challenges growing up was being an angry child.
She said she hated herself as a child and even stopped school for stabbing someone.
The comedienne said she once attempted suicide, but her mom stopped her after walking in by chance.
“I was dealing with a lot as a child. I stopped school because I fought and stabbed someone,” she said.
“I was a very angry child, angry to the point that I hated myself. I wanted to die.
“I attempted to kill myself one time, and my mum walked in.”
Calabar Chic also revealed that she was sexually assaulted at 14 on her way home from church.
She said the incident affected her spirituality and stopped her from attending church at 17.
The comedienne also revealed that she was once kidnapped in 2018 and asked to pay the sum of N50 million to save her life.
POLICE GRILL SAM LARRY
The police in Lagos have intensified their investigation of Sam Larry, the music promoter, over the circumstances surrounding the death of singer Mohbad.
Mohbad, born Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, 27, passed away on September 12. He was laid to rest the following day.
Sam Larry became a person of interest in Mohbad’s demise after an old video surfaced on social media showing the late singer being chased away from a music video shoot by the music promoter.
Sam Larry was detained by the police on Thursday night after he honoured the police invitation, and has since been grilled by police investigators.
He was apprehended at the Murtala Muhammed Airport following his arrival from Kenya.
Last week, a statement from the music promoter claimed that N2 million led to his altercation with Mohbad.
OKEY BAKASSI: I WAS APPROACHED TO PEDDLE DRUGS
Comedian Okey Bakassi said he was approached in Nigeria and abroad to peddle drugs.
Bakassi revealed fraudsters and drug dealers invited him to join their business. He said the invite was extended after he moved to Lagos.
“When I came to Lagos as a young man, I was tempted in so many different ways by different people. And I’m talking about fraudsters and drug dealers,” Bakassi said.
“I was approached. When you’re in entertainment, you are approached to peddle drugs. I have been approached overseas, I have been approached in Nigeria by drug dealers.
“They show up in your hotel and that talk business and they tell you other people who are doing it are making money. But it is dangerous.
“For me, I want to be able to sleep well. I am not afraid of the police or any law enforcement agencies. So I have tried from day one to keep things simple.”
ILEBAYE WINS BBNAIJA ALL-STARS SEASON
Ilebaye won the all-stars edition of the Big Brother Nigeria (BBNaija) reality TV show.
The reality star defeated all five finalists to win the grand prize of N120 million at the finale of the show on Sunday.
With the triumph, Ilebaye became the third female housemate to win the reality show.
The first was Mercy Eke in 2019 while Phyna secured the crown in 2022.
MOHBAD: I’M RETURNING TO NIGERIA TO CLEAR MY NAME, SAYS NAIRA MARLEY
Naira Marley said he would return to Nigeria to assist in the ongoing investigation into the death of Mohbad, his former label signee.
Marley, the Marlian Records head honcho, is one of the persons of interest in the death of Mohbad.
He said he has been “out of the country since August 31, 2023”.
The singer added he would honour the police invitation and fully cooperate with the investigation by “giving my version of the events”.
Marley also insisted that “I have no hand in Mohbad’s death” and “certainly have no reason to be a fugitive”.
Naira Marley also claimed Mohbad, his ex-signee, battled with mental issues before his death.
He said he tried to seek help for Mohbad after learning about the late singer’s “mental health issues” from an associate.
On September 21, the police exhumed Mohbad’s corpse for autopsy and are awaiting the results.
