Iyanya Mbuk has opened up about being featured in Yvonne Nelson‘s tell-all memoir.
The singer had dated Nelson, a Ghanaian actress, in 2012 but their relationship hit the rocks in 2015.
Nelson recently released an eponymous memoir in which she detailed her relationship with Iyanya.
She claimed the singer cheated on her with Tonto Dikeh, a fellow actress, hence their breakup.
In a recent interview with Starr FM, Iyanya said he was hurt when he realised he was featured in the book.
The singer said Nelson had approached him to create a video endorsing her book without disclosing that he would be featured in it.
He added that he only discovered his inclusion in the book after its release.
“I was hurt. I won’t lie to you. She buzzed me she said she was launching her book and needed a video to endorse the book which I made. I didn’t know I was in the book,” Iyanya said.
“I did that because obviously, we are cool. So when the book came out, I now knew I was in the book.”
Iyanya said he understands Nelson is healing.
The singer added that he believes in having open conversations that reveal the truth rather than tearing her down.
“I feel like, at the end of the day, she is healing,” the singer stated.
“We all need to understand that everyone goes through ups and downs, and being famous comes with the territory.
“So instead of tearing her down, I want to have more open conversations that bring out the truth.”
Since the release of his debut album in 2011, Iyanya has gained recognition in the Nigerian music industry.
Last year, he spoke about how he had to take a four-year hiatus from music for the sake of his mental health.
He recently released a six-track EP titled ‘Love and Trust’.
