Dolly Parton, the US singer, says she will be releasing a new album titled ‘Rockstar’ in November.
On her blog, Parton revealed that the music project was inspired by her induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2022.
‘Rockstar’ includes nine original songs and twenty-one covers. The Grammy-winning singer also teamed up with Miley Cyrus and Lizzo.
Other artistes featured in the album are Elton John, Sting, Stevie Nicks, Kid Rock, Simon Le Bon, P!nk, Debbie Harry, and Joan Jett.
Speaking about the upcoming body of work at a news conference in London on Thursday, Parton said creating the album was very fun for her.
The 77-year-old award-winning songstress added that the projects contained some of her best songs.
“I’ve lived my whole life mainly in country music and I love it,” Reuters quoted her as saying.
“This was just a whole new thing for me and I’ve just really put my heart and soul into it and I’d like to think it’s some of the best work I’ve ever done.
“I enjoy getting to do something besides my own songs or just country songs. I wanted to see what I could do for me and for the audience.
“I went places that I didn’t even know that I was going to go… it was a joy for me, I have to say, one of the most fun things I’ve ever done.”
The singer also said she will like to explore gospel music because the genre is “more uplifting and I won’t be around here that long.”
“I want to really do something great… more of an uplifting thing… At my age, you think about what’s going on in the world and you think ‘I’m not going to be around here that long’ so I want to leave some kind of messages,” she said.
