Bayelsa community seeks Tinubu’s support for Federal University of Agriculture Bassambiri

The people of Opu-Nembe, in Nembe LGA of Bayelsa state, has called on President Bola Tinubu to support the newly established Federal University of Agriculture Bassambiri (FUAB) to function optimally. 

Biobelemoye Josiah, Ogbodo VIII, the traditional ruler of the kingdom, said the institution was approved by former President Muhammadu Buhari.

In a statement signed by Edwin Asafibofori, the acting chairman of Opu-Nembe council of chiefs, the monarch called on Tinubu to build on Buhari’s interventions at the institution.

He added that supporting the institution is one of the ways Tinubu can made good his promise of “sustaining and improving on the good works of his predecessor”.

“We express our sincere and heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for promising to build on his predecessor’s achievements of which the newly approved Federal University of Agriculture Bassambiri (FUAB) is on,” the statement reads.

“We are, therefore, thanking the President in advance, in trust, believing he will sustain and improve on the good works of his predecessor ex-President Mohammadu Buhari for approving the Federal University of Agriculture, Bassambiri (FUAB) as well as appointing an indigenous Professor of Agriculture as the pioneer vice chancellor.

“Lastly, the Opu-Nembe Kingdom will only be willing and glad to do all that is necessary in her domain in ensuring that this monumental project attains it’s maximum success.”

The monarch appreciated Adamu Adamu, former minister of education; Duoye Diri, governor of Bayelsa; Timipere Sylva and others who made the establishment of the institution a reality.

He also said he has transferred the land “previously donated to house the Federal College of Education Bassambiri (FCOEB), now to the Federal University of Agriculture Bassambiri (FUAB), with additional hectares of land that will be included in the resurveyed document to reflect the FUAB status”.
