Audiomack has named Ahmed Ololade, the Nigerian singer better known as Asake, as its ‘Artiste of the Year.’
In a statement, the streaming platform said the music star earned the title because of his “wholesome preamble to songs and his calling card on a track”.
‘Mr Money With The Vibe’, Asake’s debut album, was also said to have garnered over 330 million streams on the platform.
“His album Mr. Money With The Vibe, a 30-minute bombardment of party-starters. Making its debut at No. 66 on the Billboard 200, Mr. Money With The Vibe set the record as the highest-charting debut album from a Nigerian artist ever,” the statement reads.
“The album has over 330 million streams on Audiomack, just two full months after release.”
The development comes a few days after Rolling Stone and the New York Times named the project among the top albums of 2022.
Recently, Asake was also nominated for the BBC Radio 1 Sound of 2023 award.
The music star was signed to, YBNL, the record label owned by Olamide, the rapper, in February 2022.
He thereafter released ‘Ololade’, his debut EP, which housed four tracks.
Asake is a graduate of theatre and performing arts at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU).
