Iyanya Mbuk, the R&B singer, has recounted how he had to beg some organisers to perform at shows in December 2021.

In a Twitter post on Wednesday, the music star disclosed that he even pleaded to perform for free at two shows last year to gain visibility.

He also expressed his gratitude to God for changing the narrative this year, adding that he has over 20 paid shows to perform.

Iyanya further appreciated his fans and some artistes that contributed to his growth.

“Last year December 2021, I performed at 3 shows, one paid and I begged to perform at 2 just to be seen. 2022 December, I wake up and everyday to alerts for shows, haven’t had this kind of busy december since 2017. 20+ shows in one month. God Thank you,” he wrote

“And to my fans and everyone who streamed my music this year, God Bless you. There’s got to be more and I promise 2023 will be a better year for everyone who has supported me this year. We will definitely have a great 2023.”

 

Speaking about what he did differently this year, Iyanya said he learned from his mistakes and became more consistent.

“Someone just asked what I did differently. Took stock of all my mistakes, blamed and forgave myself, reunited with my former partner and Manager @ubifranklin1 and he reminded me of how we started and we went back to that same plan,” he added.

“Setup recording camps, Created new music and was consisted, followed new and emerging trends, Used my social media platforms well and Stayed positive.”
