Louise Fletcher, the Oscar award-winning American actress, has passed away aged 88.
According to BBC, David Shaul, her agent, confirmed that she died at her home in the south of France.
Although he didn’t reveal details, Shaul said Fletcher died of “natural causes” on Friday.
The agent said the actress was surrounded by family at her home in Montdurausse.
Fletcher is best known for her role as “Nurse Ratched” in ‘One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest’, a 1975 comedy drama.
The movie earned her an Oscar in the ‘Best Actress’ category, a BAFTA award, and a Golden Globe award.
She’s also known for her recurring role as Kai Winn Adami in the series ‘Star Trek: Deep Space Nine’ (1993–99).
Fletcher also played Helen Rosemond in the movie ‘Cruel Intentions’ (1999).
She was nominated for two Emmy awards for her roles in the series ‘Picket Fences’ (1996) and ‘Joan of Arcadia’ (2004).
Her final movie role was as the character Rosie in the Netflix series ‘Girlboss’ in 2017.
Fletcher married Jerry Bick, a producer, in the 1960s before getting divorced in 1977.
She is survived by two sons, John and Andrew.
