Damilola Adekoya, the Nollywood actress better known as Comedian Princess, has hailed the sentencing of Baba Ijesha for sexually assaulting her foster daughter.
Baba Ijesha was arraigned on June 24, 2021, on a six-count charge of indecent treatment of a child, sexual assault, attempted sexual assault by penetration, and sexual assault by penetration.
On Thursday, the Ikeja special offences court in Lagos sentenced him to 16 years in prison after his conviction.
Oluwatoyin Taiwo, the judge presiding over the case, convicted the actor of indecent treatment of a child, sexual assault, and attempted sexual assault in a two-hour judgment.
Taiwo, however, discharged and acquitted him of count one and count six, which were: sexual assault by penetration and attempted sexual assault by penetration.
In an Instagram live session, Princess said the judgement was a win for other victims allegedly raped by Baba Ijesha.
“This judgement is for the other survivors of Baba Ijesha, I have promised not to mention their names,” she said.
The film star said she initially lost faith in the judiciary until the court judgement.
She also accused Hakeem Odumosu, ex-Lagos police commissioner, and Yomi Fabiyi of allegedly trying to cover up the matter.
She went on to rain curses on Fabiyi, describing him as a “rape apologist.”
The actress also cursed Idowu Philips, the actress better known as Mama Rainbow, and Odumosu, adding that they were among those who brought “sadness to my life.”
Princess claimed Odumosu threatened her life on several occasions in a bid to make her abandon the case.
“Idowu Philips I’m calling you out. Do you even know how many people this guy molested? They were in court. Some of those victims. I’ve lost all hope, one of them was almost suicidal. You think coming online and bullying people ends there?” she asked.
“No, it doesn’t. It doesn’t end there. These are survivors molested by and you people cover up for them. Yomi Fabiyi, you disgraced the survivors in the presence of all the people. That is the judgement of court, the judgement of God has already started. All of you will never know peace.”
