Many people don’t find it pleasing to seek romance in their workspace. And it’s for good reasons too. However, these actors found love on set and pursued their happily ever after behind the screens.
It’s exciting to have quite a number of Nollywood couples who have proved that finding love in one’s workspace is doable.
Without further ado, here are some movie stars that married their fellow thespians.
- Olu Jacobs and Joke Silva
The beautiful union of these veterans is definitely the first that comes to mind in this context. The duo has been married for over 30 years now.
After meeting in 1981 at the National Theatre in Lagos during the 21st Independent Anniversary, they tied the knot in 1986. The union is currently blessed with two grown-up children.
It’s also interesting to know that this union has never been in the news for controversial reasons.
Silva, however, recently opened up that her husband is suffering from dementia.
- Peju Ogunmola and Sunday Omobolanle
This couple is also one of the oldest in the Yoruba film industry. The 68-year-old Omobolanle, fondly called Papi Luwe or Aluwe is well known for his comic roles.
Peju, on the other hand, is an actress who has featured in Nollywood movies of Yoruba genres.
This duo has been married for decades and still counting, as they continue to reiterate their love for each other.
- Gloria and Nobert Young
This amazing couple has pulled strings as both romantic and work partners in numerous Nollywood movies for decades.
The couple got married in 2002, after meeting on a movie set. They are now blessed with three children.
They celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary earlier this month.
- Adesua Etomi and Bankole Wellington
These lovebirds decided to bring their role as couples in ‘The Wedding Party’ to reality in 2017.
Not long after featuring in the blockbuster movie, the duo tied the knot. According to Banky W, they had known each other before ‘Wedding Party’ but didn’t have anything going on, except being “best of friends”.
The union is blessed with a son, Hazaiah, after losing a set of twins through miscarriage.
- Toyin Abraham and Kolawole Ajeyemi
After several years of being unlucky with men, Abraham finally tied the knot with her man in 2019.
Just like Abraham, Ajeyemi is an actor and filmmaker. He is famous in the Yoruba movie industry.
The duo was also perceived to have been friends in the industry before proceeding to get married. Currently, the couple has a son together named Ire.
Before getting married to Ajewemi, Abraham had tied the knot with an actor, Adeniyi Johnson, in 2013. After a few years of marriage, the marriage hit the rock.
- Ibrahim Suleiman and Linda Ejiofor
The ‘Tinsel’ movie stars got married in 2018 after being friends for years.
They are happily married and welcomed their first child together in 2020. Apart from enjoying fame in the movie industry, these lovebirds also hosted AMVCA in 2020.
- Mide Martins and Afeez Abiodun
Mide tied the knot with Abiodun, her mother’s manager, in 2004. They celebrated their 17th wedding anniversary in September 2021.
The pair can be said to be amazing colleagues as they still come together to make movies. You will hardly come by a movie where only one of them will be cast.
Currently, the union has welcomed two girls.
- Stanley Nze and Jessica Obasi
Nze, who is popular for his role in ‘Rattlesnake’, and Obasi, his wife who is an actress cum producer, got married in 2021. The pair has been in a low-key relationship for three and a half years before deciding to walk down the aisle together.
- Lateef Adedimeji and Bimpe Oyebade
After several years of speculations, this duo finally got married last year.
During different interviews, the pair had dismissed being in a romantic relationship and claimed to be just friends.
Even after their marriage, they claimed they didn’t intend to get married to each other in the long run.
Being married to a Muslim, Oyebade was given a Muslim name after marriage — which is Rahmatullah.
- Yul Edochie and Judy Austin
In April, Edochie had unveiled Judy as his second wife. This had sparked different controversies and reactions about polygamy on social media.
The actor thereafter admitted that he was wrong for involving in polygamy but couldn’t allow her to go after her “unique impact” on his life.
May Edochie, his first wife, is however against his decision.
