Mercy Aigbe, Nollywood actress, has tackled those criticising her for being a second wife to Kazim Adeoti.
The film star spoke in a recent interview with Media Room Hub alongside Adeoti as they both answer quickfire questions about their union.
Aigbe added that she won’t be the first person to become a second wife and she’s happy with the marriage
“Please, I just want to tell Nigerians. Please, I’m not the first person to be a second wife. It is my choice to be a second wife. And I’m happy with it. Please, everybody should just leave me alone. Let me just be happy,” she said.
“If you can be happy for me, be happy for me. If you’re not happy for me, go and get busy.
“On a much more serious note, it is my choice. I’m happy. So just leave me to enjoy my marriage, please.”
In January, Aigbe had unveiled Adeoti as her new partner.
She had separated from Lanre Gentry, her ex-husband, five years ago over allegations of domestic violence and infidelity.
Aigbe was then caught in the heat of social media criticism after Adeoti’s first wife accused the actress of snatching her husband.
In reaction, Aigbe had said there was nothing wrong with her marriage to Adeoti since he is a Muslim.
“And secondly she told me that ‘Morayo the man is a Muslim and he is entitled to more than one wife. Yes he had issues with the first wife so he is not marrying her as a second wife’ And she has accepted to be a second wife. Doesn’t she deserve to be happy?” she had said.
“She was really upset that people were going to her DM threatening her kids and this has nothing to do with her children.”
