The Plateau state police command has arrested Moses Oko, the alleged killer of Jennifer Anthony, a student of the University of Jos (UNIJOS).
Bartholomew Onyeka, the state commissioner of police, disclosed this on Wednesday while parading the suspect at the command’s headquarters in Jos.
Jennifer, a 300-level student of the institution, was declared missing by her friends on social media in December.
Onyeka said the undergraduate was found dead at a hotel in Jos on January 1 with some of her body parts including her eyes missing.
According to him, the suspect had fled the hotel “after commiting the crime.”
The commissioner of police said the suspect was arrested in Benue with the help of his father who is a lecturer at UNIJOS.
Onyeka said the police have begun investigation into the matter.
He added that the suspect would be arraigned after investigation.
“Sequel to the gruesome murder of Miss Jennifer Anthony, a 300 level student of the University of Jos whose lifeless body was found mutilated on 01/01/2022 at Domus Pacis Guest House, Jos by a man named Moses Oko ‘m’, aged 20 years, suspected to be her boyfriend who fled after committing the crime,” the statement read.
“The command in a bid to arrest the perpetrator launched an aggressive manhunt on the suspect and tactically trailed him to Benue State where he was arrested by hawked-eye police operatives of the Command. The suspect will be arraigned in court as soon as investigation is completed.”
