Rikan Dontella, a US-based Nigerian singer, has come through with his debut extended play (EP) titled ‘Tragic Lumen’.
The body of work, released on Friday, features six tracks namely ‘Rain’, ‘YnD’, ‘Mark’s Take’, ‘Down for Me’, ‘Over Me’ and Got to Know’.
In the project, the fast-rising singer croons about love, his identity, and his drive to attain the global limelight despite the odds.
He also reflects on how those elected into political offices abuse power by neglecting the masses.
“Where I’m from. Seeds need to leave just to blossom and the government don’t care about the needy at the bottom,” he could be heard singing in ‘Rain’.
“So we, merrily merrily depart from our families in search for security other countries provide. They need us you know we come with the vibes use our culture for aesthetics then you dump us behind I’m sick of the lies.
“Embarrassing shots we parry them niggas want smoke bring the force no anakin I’m young and arrogant fly.
“I’m pelican you still in high doubts Imma send you where you’ve never been you forget where I’m from I’m from the 234.
“But no I stand on my 1s Mama love me Said she’s proud of the man I’ve become I was 18 years with a gut full of rum.”
