Abba Kyari, a deputy commissioner of police (DCP), says he attended the funeral of Uche Iyiegbu, mother of Obi Cubana, because of the business mogul’s “good nature.”

Kyari was among top dignitaries that graced the event which has continued to dominate discussions.

The crack investigator’s presence at the funeral had elicited mixed reactions.

But in a Facebook post, the DCP said the gesture was to honour Obi Cubana, whom he described as a brother and good friend.

He also said the nightlife promoter is the most hardworking entrepreneur and humble personality he has known for many years.

“Obinna Iyiegbu popularly known as Obi Cubana is one of the most hardworking entrepreneur and Humble personality that I have known for many years. He is a brother and Good Friend,” he wrote.

“For his good nature and Good heart, today I had to squeeze out time from my busy schedule to honour him by attending the burial of his beloved mother in Oba town, Anambra state.

“May God Almighty give the family the fortitude to bear the great loss. Ameen.”

Obi Cubana, whose real name is Obi Iyiegbu, is renowned as one of the pioneers of nightlife in Abuja, where he has major investments in hospitality business
