Uche Maduagwu, the self-acclaimed Nollywood actor, has again declared that he’s gay — less than three weeks after claiming that he earlier lied about his sexuality.
In January, Maduagwu had revealed that he was “proudly gay” — a development which generated heated controversies at the time.
But in April, he had claimed that he lied about his initial declaration, noting that he was merely advocating for those in the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) community in Nigeria.
He also alleged that the development had cost him several movie roles while his girlfriend also dumped him.
In yet another dramatic U-turn on Friday, Maduagwu, best known off-screen for trolling public figures, said he is “1000% gay.”

The graduate of sociology from the Lagos State University (LASU) said his initial denial was due to alleged threats from security operatives.
Maduagwu claimed that he was “arrested and beaten for three hours” by security operatives at the Lekki axis of Lagos state last month.
According to him, the security operatives threatened to do more to him if he continues to declare his gay status.
“I was arrested, beaten for three hours and told to deny being gay. This government broke me. Last month, I was arrested along Lekki axis by armed security men,” he wrote.
“I won’t disclose the particular agency but they came from #abuja I was beaten for hours and told to deny being #gay on social media or they will come back to do worse I can’t say more for now because of security reasons.”

In another post, he took a swipe at the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government over an alleged clampdown on the LGBT community in the country.
“Not even Buhari can take away my Jesus given identity. A president that can not protect LGBT should go. I am a Nigerian before being a celebrity. My fundamental human right or resign. #Naija belongs to everyone not just kunu drinking Fulani herdsmen,” he added.
