Demi Lovato, American singer, has put out ‘Dancing With the Devil…The Art of Starting Over’, her highly-anticipated album.
The award-winning singer announced the release of the 19-track project on Friday.
It comes about the same time when she dropped the visuals for ‘Dancing With the Devil’, the second track off the album.
The less than six-minute video sees Lovato recreating her 2018 near-fatal overdose experience providing graphic details of the pains she went through.
In the visuals, the 28-year-old held no bars back as she sonorously sang the pain out of her heart with overwhelming lyrics that would take listeners through her traumatic journey.
The introductory lyrics of the single explained her struggle with addiction.
The words of the chorus also re-emphasised her recklessness during the incident as she could be heard singing: “I was dancing with the devil / Out of control / Almost made it to heaven / It was closer than you know / Playing with the enemy / Gambling with my soul / It’s so hard to say no / When you’re dancing with the devil.”
The musician had earlier recounted how she was raped and “left for dead” during the overdose experience — years after she also lost her virginity to similar circumstances.
“I lost my virginity in a rape. And, you know what, f**k it, I’m just gonna say it: my #MeToo story is me telling somebody that someone did this to me, and they never got in trouble for it. They never got taken out of the movie they were in,” she had said.
