Femi Kuti, Nigerian Afrobeat star, and Made, his son, have released a joint project titled ‘Legacy Plus’.
The highly anticipated two-album studio project was put out on Friday as long-scheduled by both musicians.
It comprises one solo albums from each artist, including Femi’s own ‘Stop The Hate’ and Made’s ‘For(e)ward’.
To celebrate the release, Femi also dropped the music video for ‘As We Struggle Everyday’, a track from ‘Stop The Hate’, as filmed by Optimus Dammy, edited by Audrey Hurtis, with illustration credits going to Kiki Picasso.
Femi doubles as the eldest son of Fela Kuti, a globally renowned Afrobeat pioneer who is now late. Born in London and raised in Lagos, Femi had begun his musical career playing in Egypt 80, his father’s band.
In 1986, he started Positive Force, his own band, while establishing himself as an artist independent of his father’s legacy.
In turn, Made has all the talent of his grandfather. He’s a multi-instrumentalist (bass, saxophone, piano, drums, and trumpet).
He has also toured the world under his father’s band and attended the prestigious Trinity College in London.
He is also from a legendary lineage in the history of music, being the grandson of the revered Afrobeat pioneer.
