John Legend, Lizzo, Lady Gaga and Kim Kardashian were among several celebrities who have taken to social media to congratulate Joe Biden and Kamala Harris after being projected winners of the 2020 US presidential election.
TheCable had on Saturday reported how several international news organisations including CNN and BBC’s projections declared Biden, a candidate of the Democratic Party, the 46th president of the United States, defeating President Donald Trump.
Trump has so far rejected the election results, alleging irregularities, while also discrediting his opponent’s victory at the polls.
“The simple fact is this election is far from over. Joe Biden has not been certified as the winner of any states, let alone any of the highly contested states headed for mandatory recounts, or states where our campaign has valid and legitimate legal challenges that could determine the ultimate victor,” he had said in a statement.
Despite Trump’s statement, congratulatory messages have since been pouring in for Biden and Harris, his vice, with several prominent showbiz moguls commending them for their resilience at the polls.
Joining the fray, John Legend appreciated Biden for choosing to serve the country “during these challenging times.”
“Come to President-Elect Biden and Vice President-Elect Harris! Thank you for choosing to serve your country during these challenging times,” he wrote.

Lady Gaga also wrote: “Joe Biden, Kamala Harris and the American people, you just gave the world one of the greatest acts of kindness and bravery humanity has ever seen.”
On her part, Demi Lovato wrote: “Today isn’t about celebrating in the face of those that oppose your views and values, but celebrating from a place of LOVE – combating the hate that has encompassed and oppressed so many of us the past four years. Let the healing begin.”
