Joke Silva, a Nollywood actress, has taken to social media to share a cute throwback picture she took with Olu Jacobs, her husband — barely two days after he clocked 78.
In the picture, which was shared on Monday, the veteran movie star, 58, gave a shoutout to both their younger selves.
“Hello younger selves @_olujacobs and I. #ManyYearsAgo #Throwback,” she wrote, while fans visited the comment section to compliment the celebrity couple.
In June, the internet was awash with rumours that Jacobs had passed on. The speculations were, however, dismissed by the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN).
Jacobs, who has gotten numerous accolades for his strides in the movie scene, had tied the knot with his wife since 1989 but fans had questioned him on why she has since retained her maiden name.
“She’s her own individual. When I met her, she was the actress, Joke Silva. Why should marriage deny her and her audience’s name? She is Miss Joke Silva who is Mrs. Joke Jacobs,” he had said during an interview in 2013.
“It is as simple as that. People now begin to say what they like. They have even written that we’re separated and all sorts of stuff. She’s Joke Silva when working but she Mrs. Joke Jacobs at home.”
The lovebirds had founded and co-operated the Lufodo Group, a media corporation that consists of film production, distribution assets, and an academy of performing arts.
With two children to show for their union, it’s believed that the couple met in 1981 at the National Theatre, Lagos — a time which coincided with Nigeria’s 21st independence anniversary.
Jacobs celebrated his birthday on July 11.
