Ben, his son, took to his Twitter page on Monday to break the sad news. He also shared his late father’s picture and stated that the 92-year-old passed away from “natural causes.”

“I’m sad to say that my father, Jerry Stiller, passed away from natural causes,” Ben wrote as fans of the late author took to the comment box to bid him farewell.

“He was a great dad and grandfather, and the most dedicated husband to Anne for about 62 years. He will be greatly missed. Love you Dad.”

After years of performing comedy with his wife, who died in May 2015, Stiller became known for his role on ‘Seinfeld’ as Frank Constanza and as Leah Remini’s father on ‘The King of Queens’.

Born in New York in 1927, the comedian, who frequently played frantic and angry, yet, contemplative and sympathetic characters, got honoured with a joint star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame alongside Meara.

Although he is widely known as a comedian, the late star also doubled as an actor and author with two books to his name including ‘Married to Laughter: A Love Story Featuring Anne Meara’.

Stiller met Meara at a New York casting call in 1953. The couple got married the following year.
