Actor Yul Edochie says he’s running for the forthcoming Anambra governorship election because of a need to fix the problems of the “suffering” populace.
“I don’t understand why my people are suffering. Governance should be about giving the people the best and anything short of this is a failed project,” the actor said in two videos posted on Instagram on Tuesday.
He added: “It breaks my heart and these people don’t care. People are suffering. I want to fix the problems of the people. I want to give them the good life they deserve.”
When Edochie announced his intention to run for the governorship election, it was initially thought to be a publicity stunt, but the 36-year-old has since made it official and has now explained the motivation behind his decision.
Speaking in both English and Igbo languages, the actor vented about the situation in the country vis-a-vis the youth and the non-elite.
Edochie is yet to reveal the party he intends to pitch his tent with. The Anambra governorship election is slated for November 18.
