Kanye West, controversial American rapper, has revealed that he wanted to vote for Republican president-elect, Doland Trump, in the US presidential election.
West made the comments on stage at a concert in San Jose, California, on Thursday night – but failed to state why exactly he didn’t vote.
The rapper said he was impressed by the campaign strategy of Trump, a billionaire real estate developer
Famous for saying the most politically incorrect things, West’s statement was met with boos from most of the crowd.
But he was unperturbed by it all.
He said: “This is my platform and I’m going to talk about the paradigm shift that’s happening right now. The internet is going to take this out of context.
“People who voted for either side come out to the show, I know media is more liberal, what I’m saying is I’m not judging Trump voters. There are Hillary supporters that may be louder, but MY fact is that there are people who voted for Trump here at the show.
“The dumbest thing about politics is that politics separate, not one side or the other side is bad, it’s not Democratic or Republican. Echoing is what made people think Hillary was going to win, you thought because what the Internet was telling you, that she was gonna win.
“Rappers are philosophers of our now, celebrities are the influencers of our now, just look at the president, he wasn’t in politics & won.”
“Not only did I not vote, but there were a lot of things I actually liked about Trump’s campaign. His approach was f****** genius – because it worked.
“That don’t mean that I don’t think that black lives matter. That don’t mean that I don’t believe in women’s rights. That don’t mean that I don’t believe in gay marriage. That don’t mean that I don’t believe in these things because that’s the guy that I wanted to vote for.”
West had previously announced his plan to run for president in 2020.
