In what appeared to be a renewed attack in Benue last week, over 100 people were killed by alleged herders in Yelewata and Daudu communities in Guma LGA.

In a recent Instagram post, the ‘African Queen’ hitmaker lamented that the Benue attacks have become a national emergency.

The 49-year-old songwriter said the situation is causing him “sadness, grief, anger, and frustration”.

2Baba, born Innocent Idibia, said every stakeholder in the country must collaborate to find a “serious solution to the killings”.

“What is going on in my state has become a national emergency. I can not wrap my head around it. I do not even know what to say at this point in time because it is going to be business as usual,” he said.

“This thing has to stop. It has to evoke everybody. Everybody, every stakeholder in this country, every stakeholder in Benin state. This is not child’s play. It’s becoming ridiculous.

“This, I do not even, I do not know where to start expressing my sadness, my grief, my anger, my frustration for these things that keep happening over and over again. You know. Every time, okay, we call on the governors, we call on the president. Oh man, this thing is not funny anymore.

“It has gone beyond just condemning. Serious action needs to start to take place. Every stakeholder needs to come together. We need to fight this. We need a solution here. Let us be serious with the solution. My heart is heavy, terribly sad, terribly angry.”
