Funke Akindele, the deputy governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos state, has called for prayers ahead of the 2023 election.
Akindele is the running mate to Abdul-Azeez Adediran, the Lagos PDP governorship candidate better known as Jandor.
On Saturday, the film star attended the annual gathering of Celestial Church of Christ members in Imeko, Ogun state.
In a now-viral video, Akindele was seen charging the congregation to embrace God and be upright in their dealings.
“Anything we do we must put God first. We have to be well mannered. We must behave like those who wear white cloth. We have to behave like a ‘Celestial’ member,” she said.
“We must not forget our source. Don’t forget your God. God be with you. All I want is prayer. Keep praying for me.”
Akindele had earlier said she joined politics to give hope to the masses, especially women and children.
“Nobody is happy with what is happening in Lagos State at the moment. If the people fail to find solutions to it, things will soon go very bad,” she had said.
“This was why I joined the governorship candidate of the PDP in the state, Dr Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran aka Jandor, so that we can repair the state.”
