‘Eventful’ is perhaps the best word to use in describing the gradually fading year.

The level of drama witnessed was unprecedented.

Nigerian celebrities have consistently proven that they will not be walked over or messed with, and as such, are always armed with a defense of harsh words and drastic actions.

Here are the highlights of celebrity conflicts from the beginning of 2016 till now.

Olamide and Don Jazzy

Who knew awards meant so much? Bosses in their own rights, Olamide, YBNL CEO and Don Jazzy, Mavin head honcho, kicked off 2016 with an intense showdown at the Headies awards which held at Eko Hotel, Lagos.

The feud was as a result of Reekado Banks’ clinching of the Next Rated category over Olamide’s artiste, Lil Kesh.

This result stirred up emotion in the Who You Epp singer as he stormed to the stage to make his displeasure known. The fight quickly moved to social media after the show and got the attention of the whole country.

Linda Ikeji and Wizkid

The fight between Linda Ikeji and Ayo ‘Wizkid’ Balogun was ignited by a story she ran about the singer.

The story published on her blog said Wizkid had been evicted from his Lekki, Lagos home.

This news did not sit well with the Ojuelegba singer as he took to social media to threaten the blogger with physical assault.

This resulted in a back and forth that was eventually settled by the police.

Tiwa Savage and Tee Billz

Tee Billz put the word ‘promiscuity’ in a new light after his wife, Tiwa Savage, gave a full exposé on YouTube about his marital unfaithfulness and general irresponsibility.

The revelation was prompted by TeeBillz’s meltdown on Instagram. The artiste manager had accused his wife of being a serial cheat and claimed that she often failed to perform her marital duties, e.g, cooking.

Davido and the Momodus

Parenting is a significantly difficult task on its own. Co-parenting by an unmarried couple, on the other hand, can be prone to conflict.

The fight was a custody battle over the child birthed during Davido and Sophia Momodu’s once sweet union.

As usual, it landed on social media, where Dele Momodu, Sophia’s uncle, got involved and spilled some beans of his own.

Davido, after giving as much as he got, further expressed his grievances when he was featured on Humblesmith’s Osinachi.

In the song, he chorused “Mr Dele na my boy, Dele na my boy”.

Peter Okoye VS Paul, Jude Okoye

Blood is thicker than water, they say, but this wasn’t enough to keep Peter Okoye from wanting to leave the P-Square group after countless disagreements with his older brother and manager, Jude Okoye.

Harsh words and accusations were thrown and received by both parties as the fans stood in the crossfire begging for Peter and Paul to stay together.

Skales and Baseline Music

Contracts are very important to keep people in line but for a number of reasons, Nigerian artistes tend to have issues with theirs.

Skales who was signed to Baseline Music in 2014, was accused of allegedly defrauding the label alongside his manager, Osagie Osarenkhoe.

The issue has since been resolved while Skales has told fans that “it’s nobody’s business”.

Toyin Aimakhu and Seun Egbegbe

Toyin Aimakhu hasn’t had the best luck with love.

After stepping out of a failed marriage filled with a lot of drama, her relationship with producer, Seun Egbegbe, turned sour as they spewed harsh words at each other via social media and in interviews.

Oritsefemi and Quilox

Oritsefemi, MSN Gang artiste, had a run-in with the bouncers at the Quilox nightclub which quickly turned physical and left the Double Wahala singer with a few bruises.

The artist later took responsibility for his actions by pulling the “I’m human” card.

Toke Makinwa and Maje Ayida

One of Nigeria’s most popular media personalities, Toke Makinwa, saw her marriage to fitness trainer, Maje Ayida, crumble this year.

She officially filed for divorce from her estranged husband in June, citing adultery, cruelty and irreconcilable differences.

The On-Air personality subsequently accused Maje of infecting her with an STD.

She detailed her experience in a book titled ‘On Becoming’.
