Yul Edochie, Nollywood actor, has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to provide economic relief for Nigerians in the wake of the sit-at-home order across the country.

Buhari had in a nationwide address on Sunday ordered a lockdown in Abuja, Lagos and Ogun states to contain the spread of coronavirus in the country.

But in a post on his social media page, the actor cum politician appealed to the president to put in place economic support, noting many Nigerians are currently complaining of hunger.

“Dear President @MBuhari Please provide an economic relief package for Nigerians, even if it’s 50k each, it will go a long way,” he wrote on Twitter.

“People are hungry, locked down with no money, begging left, right & centre. With the situation like this, it’ll be difficult to keep people at home.”

The 38-year-old actor’s comment comes about the same time when Yemi Alade, Afrobeats vocalist, tasked Buhari to provide economic stimulus package for Nigerians he asked to sit down at hone.

“#COVID19 The Nigerian Government can budget N150 billion for 500 legislators. But don’t have any package for it citizens sitting at home,” she had said.

Nigeria presently has 111 cases of the killer virus that has continued to ravage countries across the globe.
