Tiwa Savage, the Nigerian singer, says she is after a man that can “match my energy” — not just the one who is financially buoyant.

The Afrobeats queen spoke about her choice of relationship during her North American tour in Dallas on Thursday.

In a now-viral video, she said she isn’t looking for someone that is rich because she is already financially capable to take care of her needs.

The songstress added that she is only after someone that will compliment her wealth.

“I was telling my stylist, Tokunbo, that it isn’t that I’m looking for a guy that has money because I have money too, don’t get it twisted,” she said.

“If you do anyhow, I will get into my Lamborghini and drive off. So all I’m saying is you have to match my energy. So from now, we’re looking for someone to add to our fortune when we already have.”

The singer tied the knot with Tunji ‘TeeBillz’ Balogun, the talent manager, in 2013. The pair welcomed Jamil, their first son together, in 2015.

But in 2016, their marriage hit the rock over allegations of neglect, infidelity, and substance abuse.

The singer had also in December 2019 stoked the flame of controversy when she addressed her relationship with Wizkid.

This was after the pair had in October the same year set social media abuzz when they both shared a kiss on stage at Wizkid’s ‘Star Boy Fest‘ in France.

Tiwa Savage has established herself as one of the prominent figures in the Nigerian music landscape with strings of awards and honorary mentions.
