In the early hours of Sunday, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Adeleke the winner of the election held on Saturday.

The ex-lawmaker secured 403, 371 votes to defeat his closest challenger, Gboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who polled 375,027 votes.

The ‘Stand Strong’ crooner said apart from the fact that “family is everything,” he believes the Adelekes are “the best people for the job”.

He also said his uncle should be given “one or two years” to see what is going to happen in the state.

“To me, family is everything. Asides from that, we’re the best people for the job. Give us one or two years, and we’ll see what’s up,” he said.
