Rap music industry is generally viewed as homophobic which has thus far made it nearly impossible for queer rappers to publicly embrace their sexuality.

Le1f, born Khalif Diouf, a producer and rapper, is the only known figure in the hip-hop world to have come out as gay.

“The rap world thinks I’m gay. A lot of people out there do. They think I’m a homosexual, which is not a problem. I don’t want to say I’m gay, I’m straight, I’m bisexual or any of that, because that’s just… Who cares? All that’s doing is dividing us,” Makonen had told the New York Times in 2015.
