Billboard had introduced the initiative as one of its 21 genre-specific song charts.

The development further stretches the impressive strides of Nigerian artistes across the global music landscape.

In 2021, Wizkid and Burna Boy had won their first-ever Grammy award each while the likes of Davido, Tiwa Savage among others also achieved a stellar year.

The Nigerian music industry has also witnessed the rise of several artistes such as Tems, Buju, Ruger, and Ayra Starr who are currently pulling the strings.
