Don Jazzy, in a series of tweets, explained that “not all of us will blow” as artistes, stressing that there is an opportunity for songwriters to shine in the industry.

He started his tweets with: “I think what our industry needs now is more songwriters. We have too many artists as it is.”

Then continued: “Not all of us will blow as artists. Maybe u haven’t blown cos u think you have what it takes to be an artist. When you could be a mega songwriter.

“I am working on something. And when I’m done I can guarantee some of you will make more money than most artists just being a dope songwriter.

“Writers try to be artists cos they feel there is no money in writing and that’s also cos most artists are too stingy to share earnings. Also cos some artists think it takes away from their shine if they don’t write their own songs.

“Artists need to understand that we respect their own craft as an artist/performer and we don’t care if they wrote their songs or not.

“I already have some songwriters already. My artists are not stingy to share and not too proud to wanna attempt to do it all alone. No man is an island.”
